Glass by EvAnt

Introduction

I have carried my passion for painting into my interest in working with kiln formed glass.

As I work in a wide range of fine art and craft media I am sure you will be delighted by my unique combinations and absolutely original products.

My Work

Inspired by nature many of my works relate to my Tasmanian island home and especially the coast.

I love small intimate objects and you will find jewellery and small glass plates in my collection.

Feel free to look through my portfolio for a sample of my work. If you have any questions, please contact me.

Approach

I was attracted to working with glass by the colours and properties of Dichroic glass through co-teaching senior secondary art and craft with Tasmanian glass artist Anne Dunham. But as a painter, primarily using water based media, I quickly added a unique perspective of painterly watercolour images on glass. After drying, the miniature paintings are kiln fired so the painted image is absorbed into the form.

I am constantly adding new lines as I combine media and experiment with possibilities. An example is my chard plates made from scrap tin float glass and my cocoon range of jewellery which combines polymer clay and kiln fired dichroic glass.... my personal unique combination of media. You won't find anything else like my cocoon range of pendants, brooches and earrings.

Also standing out from the crowd is my watercolour style of painting on glass. The result is quit different to that of other glass artists who tend to use a heavier application of thicker colour in a decorative, but less painterly manner.
